Grant Applications - 2008

The Arkansas Association of Resource Conservation and Development Councils (AARCD) is now accepting Year 2008 grant applications for the Rural Fire Protection Program (RFPP). Participating fire departments are encouraged to return a grant application. A list of items to be considered is enclosed with this packet. The final deadline for returning grant applications will be 5:00 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2008 at the Program Manager’s Office. Only original application forms will be accepted. Forms that have been altered or reformatted will not be accepted. Faxed copies will not be considered.

The maximum funding amount for any application will be limited to $8,000.00 for the Year 2008 funding cycle. Be aware that limited funding will result in few applications receiving the full $8,000.00. Each application will be considered on its own merit and will compete with other applications statewide. Because of the limited amount of funds available, some individual items such as tankers, may not be funded for the full amount requested. If this occurs, the fire department will be notified and given the opportunity to accept or reject the grant funds. If the fire department accepts the grant funds, they must agree to pay any excess costs over the amount funded. While this grant does not require matching funds by the fire department, consideration may be given to those fire departments that demonstrate the ability to generate assistance in making the stated improvements. Explain in question # 7 of the application if other funds, labor, or materials will be donated, or if existing fire department funds will be used to assist in the improvements.

Fire departments that have received funds from an earlier grant cycle must have returned a “Certification of Completion” for those funds before being considered for this grant cycle. The “Certification of Completion” must show that all funds have been expended correctly and invoices must be attached.

Return your application as soon as possible. If an application is received before the early deadline of September 19, 2008, we will attempt to contact the fire department or will return the application if we find a mistake or if it is missing information. Applications received after October 3, 2008 will be submitted as is.

To be certain that an application is not lost a postcard will be returned to each fire department upon receipt of their application. Call the Program Manager’s Office if the postcard is not received by October 10, 2008. Fire departments will be notified whether their application was approved or not by November 14, 2008.

Review the following checklist before mailing your application. Failure to do the following could keep your application from being considered!
